About Childhood Leukemia Foundation
It was one day while Barbara was visiting her sister in medical school that she learned of a five-year-old boy who was receiving treatment for leukemia. She watched as he lay alone in his hospital bed, disheartened by his tragic circumstances. His parents had no choice but to continue working throughout the day to help afford the young boy’s medical expenses. The only visitors he regularly received were that of the medical staff who were in charge of his care. His only wish he had at the time was to have a Nintendo Gameboy to help him pass the time and provide a distraction from his circumstances.
While Barbara knew she couldn’t cure the boy’s cancer, she could bring him a bit of happiness, by purchasing the Nintendo Gameboy for him. It was at that moment that the idea for the Childhood Leukemia Foundation was born.
Ever since Barbara has made a conscious effort to try and make a difference in the lives of young children that struggle with cancer. Thus, she began the process of creating a non-profit from the ground up to help provide help with the day-to-day lives of children battling all types of cancer.
